Oolong

Formosa Oolong

A wonderful example of a long-fired Oolong. This tea is a rich amber liquor with smooth, complex toasty notes and a touch of dryness. Distinctive, full-bodied and a must-try Taiwanese tea.

Origin: Taiwan
Grade: Choice Fine #1
Ingredients: Oolong tea
Antioxidant Level: High
Caffeine Content: Low

About:
Oolong means semi fermented. After rolling, the tea is allowed to ferment only until the edges of the leaves start to turn brown. The tea is then fired which arrests the fermenting process and captures the interesting character associated with Oolong tea. In Taiwan, producing oolong tea involves highly specialized skills in the control of the withering, oxidation and firing. A slight variance in any of these gives each variety a distinctive aroma, flavour, colour and finish.

Brewing: Always use freshly boiled water. The taste will vary depending on the amount of tea used and how long it is steeped. Longer = stronger. If left too long the tea may also turn bitter.
