Before the doors open, the day begins quietly behind the counter.
Each morning starts with a quick good morning to the teas! Because after spending all day with them, it would feel strange walking in like we are not on speaking terms! Then the small jobs that most people never see, checking stock levels, straightening shelves, preparing packaging, and making sure every part of the shop feels ready for the day ahead. It is those first few calm moments that set the tone for everything that follows.
One of the biggest parts of the day happens behind the scenes.
Loose leaf teas are carefully weighed, blended, and packed by hand, making sure each pouch is consistent with the last. From floral blends to deeper black teas, every ingredient is measured with care so each customer takes home exactly what they expect from Tea & Leaves.
As the day moves on, the shop becomes more than just shelves of tea.
Customers come in looking for comfort, gifts, or simply something different to try. Some know exactly what they love, while others need help finding a blend that suits them. Often, a quick conversation can turn into someone discovering a new favourite they would never have chosen on their own.
Between customers, there is always more to do.
New deliveries need unpacking, jars need refilling, labels need attaching, and seasonal ideas are often being planned in the background. Running a tea shop is often a balance between the part customers see and the work they never do.
By late afternoon, the pace begins to slow.
The shelves are checked again, stock is counted, and the shop is reset ready for the next day. What looks peaceful from the outside is often the result of a full day of steady work behind the scenes.
Tea & Leaves is not just about selling tea.
It is about creating something thoughtful by hand, keeping quality consistent, and building a shop that feels personal in a world that often feels rushed.
And the next morning, it begins all over again... and I love every moment!
